Goodwin Home Health FAQs
What is home health?
Home health care provides short-term medical treatment for an illness or injury, with the goal of helping you recover, regain your independence and become as self-sufficient as possible. It is covered by Medicare and other insurance plans, and requires a doctor’s order. Additionally, it is the most cost-effective provider of health care in our country.
Who qualifies for home health services?
You may be a candidate for home health services if you’ve experienced a recent decline in your ability to perform daily tasks like getting dressed or walking. Frequent falls, recent hospitalization, a recent surgical procedure, the need for short-term skilled nursing or the onset of a new illness can also signal the need for additional care. Likewise, difficulty leaving your home due to pain, limited mobility, shortness of breath or balance issues. Speak to your medical care provider to determine if home health services are needed. To receive home health services, you must have a professional referral or prescription.
How is home health care paid for?
Home health care is typically covered through insurance. Most services are paid for by Medicare Part A, managed care plans or commercial insurance providers. Before care begins, our team will work with you to confirm your coverage and make sure you understand any out-of-pocket costs.
What is the difference between Goodwin Home Health and Goodwin Home Care?
